Reflections at the end of the day! Posted on 1st May 2010, 8:29am by Sylvester

I sat there, imbibing the beauty of the sunset, and realized how Mother Nature at the day’s end, reminds us of how we need to reflect on our actions and deeds like the reflections mirrored over still water. But to properly reflect, one has to be calm, our mind quietened. Be like still water. Only then can we ’see’ !

As busy medical practitioners, how much time do we allocate to contemplating upon our daily events. All too often, we find ourselves too busy, too preoccupied, to spend a few minutes to review our actions for the day. We spend even less time taking stock of our life’s direction except, perhaps, in an annual retreat? This, assuming that we make the time for a retreat! But  Mother Nature shows us the way. Day after day, upon still waters, we see reflections all around us, reminding us of the need to spend some time to examine our inner feelings and thoughts, take stock, and review our lives and actions. And just as Nature mirrors the wonder and beauty of the works of the Creator, so too when our simple everyday activities are for God, will we mirror to those around us, the glory and majesty of the Lord!

“Be still and know that I am God! I am exalted among the nations, I am exalted in the earth.” Psalm 46:10

Thank you for sharing your reflection with us. This line spoke especially to me: “And just as Nature mirrors the wonder and beauty of the works of the Creator, so too when our simple everyday activities are for God, will we mirror to those around us, the glory and majesty of the Lord!” Thank you for the reminder and for mirroring how we can be contemplatives in our busy lives. The picture’s beautifully apt!
